Kate's Vision
My Vision is...
I feel time is a gift. It's something that eludes us sometimes, we don't seem to have enough time in our busy lives. My moto is 'My time is your time' and as part of my vision for Kate's Company I want to expand, work alongside others and provide a meaningful, helpful, caring service to people in the community and value the time spent with them. So many people already receive care in one way or another from very hard working care support staff which maybe for anything up to 4 times a day. But what about the time in between these visits? This is where I believe Kate's Company can help. Loneliness and social isolation is something I wish didn't exist but unfortunately it does. By providing time to perhaps sit and listen to someone for a while, or take them out in the car or go for a walk. Time spent doing activies they may enjoy like reading, drawing, painting, singing, puzzles or playing cards. Kate's Company can visit loved ones in care homes to provide some much needed Company or help with meal visits to help and encourage eating and drinking. I want to take some pressure away from busy families who juggle between jobs, family and caring. My aim is to be able to provide much more time so I can reach more people in the community to support both their physical and mental wellbeing. Here is a poem I wrote after spending time with one of my clients... My time is yours. I walk beside you, not in front nor behind, my time is yours, we explore, we find. A life once known a story to tell, turmoil inside even though you look well. Yesterday's memories seem blurred or unclear, where as years gone by seem so very near. My time is yours, I'm here with you now, loving to hear the stories you tell. I've heard them before but somehow it's new, you're not this illness, inside is YOU. A child, a teenager, a mother, a daughter, a wife, many memories of a wonderful life. My time is yours, I'm here holding your hand, you may not know me but I know you understand. My time is yours, I look deep in your eyes, you smile a beautiful smile which takes me by surprise. I know you can feel me next to you now, I love hearing those by gone stories you tell. I've heard them before but that's Ok, I would listen to you my lovely just to hear them every day. You are not this illness, it isn't you, I see when you look at me what is really true. My time is yours, I know you are aware, that I'm here by you, I really do care. You are not this illness, it does not belong, I will not cry, I will be strong. My time is yours, I'm here for you, I know you well, I know what's true. This illness thinks it's the boss, but underneath I find your soul that's lost. I see through it, it's not winning whilst I hold your hand because I know, you know that I understand. My time is yours, let's spend it well and live within those stories you tell. |
